Foundation hosts Satguru

On Saturday May 30th 2015 the Saivite Tamil Foundation hosted Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami, successor to Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami. Sannyasin Shanmuganathaswami and Siddhanathaswami accompanied Satguru Bodhinatha.

Satsang was held at the home of Dr. & Mrs. Jeyendran and attended by members of the Chicago area Sri Lankan community.

Ganapathi pooja was performed by Siddhanathaswami followed with Bhajans by children. A video presentation to update the progress of Iraivan Temple followed with a slide presentation by Sannyasin Shanmuganathaswami highlighting their recent pilgrimage to Sri Lanka. His holiness had an informal discussion with the children and adults which was followed with traditional Sri Lankan dinner. A copy of our Tenth Anniversary Souvenir booklet of Saivite religious summer camp was also presented to Bodhinatha Veylanswami.

On Saturday May 17th 2014 the Saivite Tamil Foundation for the second time hosted Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami, successor to Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami. Sannyasin Shanmuganathaswami and Siddhanathaswami accompanied Satguru Bodhinatha. Satsang was held at the home of Dr. & Mrs. Jeyendran and attended by members of the Chicago area Sri Lankan community. Ganapathi pooja was performed by children followed with his holiness address and blessings to group.

His holiness also introduced and released Hindu Oli honoring Maha Munivar of Jaffna His Holiness Siva Yoga Swamigal, a publication of All Ceylon Hindu Congress, sponsored by Saivite Tamil Foundation. His holiness had an informal discussion with the children and adults which was followed with traditional Sri Lankan dinner. Additional pictures can be found here.

On Monday, August 13, 2007 the Saivite Tamil Foundation hosted Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami, successor to Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, and 163rd preceptor of the Nandinatha Sampradaya’s Kailasa Parampara. Satguru Bodhinatha is the spiritual leader of Kauai Aadheenam and publisher of Hinduism Today.
Satsang was held at the home of Dr. & Mrs. Jeyendran and attended by members of the Chicago area Sri Lankan community. Satguru Bodhinatha heartily endorsed the formation of the Saivite Tamil Foundation and offered the assistance of Kauai Aadheenam with the mission of the Foundation.

Summer Camp

Saivite Children Summer Camp is held in Chicago, Illinois in June. Children of all ages attend this four day retreat which is conducted by Rishi Thondunathan. Events include classes for all level of children, philosophical discussions for adults and yoga instruction. Children also participate in outdoor activities including hiking and field trip to nearby hindu temple.

Pancha Ganapathi

Pancha Ganapati is a modern Hindu festival of the Five-Faced Maha Ganapati. This festival falls during the month of December and lasts for five days from December 21 through 25. Pancha Ganapati is a Hindu expression of the natural season of worship, gift giving and celebration.

Thai Pongal

Thai Pongal is celebrated by the Tamil people all over the world. It is celebrated to convey the appreciation and thankfulness to the Sun as it acts as the primary energy behind agriculture and a good harvest.

Navarathiri means nine nights. This festival celebrates the power of the feminine aspect of divinity or shakti.

Informative Lecture Series

This webpage highlights a series of health-focused lectures aimed at educating the community. Mrs. Meenakshi Rammohan presented on diabetic and low-cholesterol diets based on Sri Lankan/Indian cuisine in December 2007. In March 2009, Ms. Sanya Syrstad discussed self-esteem, depression, and child-rearing challenges. Dr. Narmadha Kupuswani led a session on women’s health in September 2010, addressing gynecological issues for young and middle-aged women. Each event featured informative presentations followed by informal discussions, fostering deeper engagement with the topics.

Rishi Thondunation visited the seniors at their home, and performed a puja.
